Morton Shulman, O.C. was a politician, businessman, broadcaster, columnist, coroner, and physician from Canada. He was born in 1925 to a Jewish family in Toronto, Ontario. In the early 1960s, he rose to prominence as Ontario’s Chief Coroner. During this time, he also became a very successful stock market player, publishing a best-selling book on how to make money in the stock market.

He embarrassed the provincial government in the mid-1960s when he discovered them violating provincial health and safety laws. He was fired and then ran for elected office in Ontario’s Legislative Assembly, where he defeated a government Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP). He served two terms as the MPP for the High Park electoral district and did not run in the 1975 Ontario general election.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he rose to prominence as the host of The Shulman File, a nationally syndicated television talk show. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the early 1980s and went on to become a pharmaceutical entrepreneur specializing in Parkinson’s treatments. He was appointed to the Order of Canada, the country’s highest civilian award, near the end of his life, as recognition for his lifetime’s work. In the year 2000, he died in Toronto.
