OpenCV allows you to manipulate images and videos. There are many functions in it that perform it. Suppose you want to implement OpenCV edge detection. Then how you can do so. The answer is here. In this entire tutorial, you will know how to detect edges of an image using the cv2 canny method. All tasks will be implemented step by step.
Steps for OpenCV edge detection through cv2 Canny method
Before going through the steps in detail below is the image file I will implement OpenCV edge detection.

Step 1: Import the necessary library
In this tutorial, I am using the OpenCV package only. Make sure you have installed the OpenCV python library. Then import it using the import statement.

Step 2: Read the Image File
The next step is to read the image file. Any image in OpenCV can be read using the cv2.imread() method. Execute the code below to read the image.
img = cv2.imread("dove.jpg")
Step 3: Implement the cv2 Canny method.
Now, after reading the image, let’s detect the image using the cv2.Canny() method. Generally, The Canny() method accepts three arguments. The first argument is your input image. The second and third arguments are aperture_size and L2gradient also know as threshold values. Threshold values allow you to classify the pixel intensities in the image.
Let’s use the cv2.Canny()method on the image.
edges = cv2.Canny(img,100,70)
You can see the I am using 100 and 70 as the aperture size and L2 gradient.
Step 4: Show and Compare the Image
After implementing all the above let’s show and compare the image. In OpenCV, you can show the image using the cv2.imshow() method. After that, if you are using cv2 on windows then you have to use cv2.waitKey(0) to display the image indefinitely until you press the keyboard.

Method 1: Installing pre-built OpenCV package using pip
In this method, I will show you how you can install OpenCV directly use the pip command. There is an unofficial pre-built OpenCV package for Python that allows you to do so.
Open your command prompt and type the following command. You should also remember that the pip command differs for different python versions. Therefore make sure you check the python version using the following command.
python --version
In my case, it is 3.7.4. However, I am showing you how to install on both python versions, python 2.xx, and python 3.xx. That’s why use according to it.
For python 2.xx version
pip install opencv-python
For python 3.xx version
pip3 install opencv-python
Installing Pre-built OpenCV python module using pip
You can see I have already installed OpenCV on my computer. Otherwise, it will start downloading the package and install OpenCV.
Method 2: Install Opencv using pip on the whl file
The other method to install OpenCV in your system is using the .whlfile. The whl file is a package saved in the wheel format that is used for package distribution in python. But before installing using this method make sure you have already installed numpy. Go to the repository website and search for the OpenCV package. There you will different versions of the OpenCV packages. Download the wheel file according to your system. My OS is windows, so I am downloading the win32 version.

After downloading it, go to that directory using the command prompt and type the pip3 command to install OpenCV.
It will compile the wheel file and install the OpenCV package in your system.
Method 3: Installing OpenCV using pip in Pycharm
Sometimes we are unable to install the OpenCV package inside the Pycharm directly. Then the pip command will help you. Just go to the terminal inside the PyCharm and type the following command. It will install the OpenCV python package.
pip3 install opencv-python

Scipy stats pearsonr Implementation-
We will implement the pearsonr coefficient in steps. We will also interprete the coefficient.
Step 1 : Import –
Firstly, In this step, We will import the stats module from scipy package. Here is the way to do it.

Step 2: Dataset creation-
Secondly, In this step, We will create two numpy array as dataset. This numpy object will be input parameter in the further process.
We can take larger array with more elements. But here just for demonstrating this functionality, we used the small size array.
Step 3: Calculating pearsonr cofficient –
stats.pearsonr()function takes the numpy arrays are argument. It will return pearsonr coefficient. If the value is near to -1, It is high negative coefficient. In the opposite side, If the value is near to 1, It will be highly positive coefficient. Negative coefficient means value in one dataset increase, It will decrease the value of other dataset.
stats.pearsonr(array_1,array_2)
If we have positive coefficient, It means increasing the value of a dataset , will increase the second dataset as well.
In the output, We are getting very high negative coefficient because when increase values in first array. It will decrease the values in second array.
